bio

Yan Longdan is a cross-disciplinary practical artist and director born in 2000 in Chongqing. Her practice moves across theater, video, performance, digital art, and site-specific contexts, with the body serving as both the eternal starting point and ultimate destination of her work.

In recent years, she has focused on deconstructing the internal dynamics of the art ecosystem, treating marginalized experiences under power structures as key specimens. By juxtaposing the order of industrial materials, the forms of biological processes, and the inherent fragility of the flesh, she forges sustained tension in her live works. She is fascinated by superimposing personal trauma with the collective symptoms of our time—such as digital loneliness and algorithmic identity—making her practice an attempt to “examine the system through systematic methods.” Through repetitive, ritualized actions, she extracts public poetry from the ruins of private experience, documenting the quiet, narrative breakthroughs of the individual within the complex interface of life, technology, and power.
